Four Indigenous Reactors

The Rajasthan project will feature four indigenous Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs). Each reactor will generate 700 MW, giving the project a combined capacity of 2,800 MW.

Rajasthan Gets a Major Nuclear Boost

The nuclear power project is planned near Banswara, Rajasthan, close to the Mahi River. The site is expected to become an important part of India's growing nuclear power network.

India’s Indigenous Nuclear Technology

The four reactors will use India's own PHWR technology, building on the country's experience with reactors at Kakrapar and Rawatbhata. The project highlights India's growing capability to design and build advanced nuclear reactors domestically.

India Opens Nuclear Energy to Private Investment

India is taking major steps to expand its nuclear sector. The country is strengthening uranium supplies through agreements with Canada and Australia, while also encouraging greater private-sector participation in nuclear energy.

The 100 GW Nuclear Power Ambition

India is targeting 100 GW of nuclear power capacity and is exploring technologies including small modular reactors (SMRs). With standardized 700 MW reactors and new investment, India's nuclear expansion could accelerate significantly.
